" Oh, little town of Bethlehem! How still we see thee lie''

The IDF, Security Service, and police reported the arrest of dozens of Hamas terrorists in Bethlehem.

"The organization planned to carry out a series of armed attacks in the very near future. Shin Bet detained about 40 people during 15 different operations conducted by reservists of the Etzion Brigade, fighters of the Duvdevan unit, and the LOTAR counterterrorism center. Ammunition and weapons were seized."

Response of the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, to the President of the United States, Donald Trump:

"The President of Israel holds President Trump in great respect, once again expresses gratitude for his unconditional support of Israel and his enormous contribution to the return of hostages, the transformation of the Middle East and Gaza, as well as ensuring the security of the State of Israel. Without diminishing what has been said, as the president has repeatedly emphasized, anyone wishing to receive a pardon must submit the appropriate petition in the prescribed manner."

It should be recalled that the prescribed procedure implies full admission of guilt by the applicant for pardon. This procedure is not enshrined in law but in the legal tradition of law application. Legal tradition is a source of law in Israel. "A petition for pardon is intended for those who have been convicted, accepted the sentence, and request mitigation or cancellation of the sentence." In certain cases, this practice is replaced with the permission of the Supreme Court, but only after the sentence has come into force.
