Sharon Plain is a narrow valley that stretches from Ha-Yarkon river in the North of historical Tel-Aviv to the bottom of Mount Carmel in Haifa. The total length from the south to the north is 56 miles.
The Mediterranean Sea borders the plain to the west and the mountains of Samaria
to the east. Thus, the maximum width is about 9 miles.
Sharon Plain is mentioned in the Bible's Old Testament and is also one of the most famous names recorded in the Song of Songs (2:1):
"I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys" (Isaiah 33:9)
The identity of this flower is still hotly disputed among the scholars.
